Becky Reyes & Scott Muhleman - House Musicians
As I'm the one maintaining this website, I won't pretend someone else is writing this... My name is Becky Reyes and I've been a serious musician since 1988. I am mostly an acoustic guitar player and I like to sing. My usual gigs are as a duo with my husband and partner, Scott Muhleman, or Muleman as we like to call him. Muleman Plays the blues harmonica like no one I've ever known. We play songs from the 1970's all the way back to the 1700's. Mostly stuff we loved as kids, and remembered from our parents and relatives. It's a great gig and fills us with such happiness to do it. We consider ourselves song-catchers. So many people will come to us and say, "...why, I haven't heard that song since I was in college" or "My grandfather used to sing that to us". And the best part is that they are all songs that have touched us in some way. They are our favorite songs.
My main inspiration in exploring music has always been my dad, Gilbert Reyes. He's a WWII vet and had such a great collection of 78's & 33's when we were kids. We heard them all and knew the band leaders by name. He introduced me to Stan Getz and João Gilberto, Billie Holiday, Sarita Montiel, Louis Jordan, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Peggy Lee and so many more. So you see, it's no wonder that within the girl-with-guitar-acoustic-folk-singer is also woman-with-a-torch. Sometimes the torch is burning passionately and sometimes it's smoldering, but let me assure you - it's always hot.
